An all-weather pressure/vacuum relief valve with an integrated corrugated flame arrester, designed for fixed-roof atmospheric storage tanks holding Class A and Class B flammable petroleum products. The combined design eliminates the need for separate flame arrester and breather valve installations, reducing footprint and simplifying maintenance. Under normal operation, the valve manages inbreathing and outbreathing demands driven by filling, emptying, and thermal fluctuations — opening to relieve overpressure during pump-in or vapor expansion, and admitting air during pump-out or vapor contraction. The integral flame arrester prevents external ignition sources, such as lightning strikes, from propagating a flame back into the tank vapor space, providing an essential additional layer of fire and explosion protection for tanks storing highly volatile flammable media.
Sized and selected in accordance with API 2000 for venting atmospheric and low-pressure storage tanks, with flame arrester performance referenced to NFPA 69 and ISO 16852. Compatible for use in conjunction with hydraulic safety valves as a secondary layer of tank protection.
- Integrated corrugated flame arrester prevents flashback into the tank vapor space from external ignition sources
- Dual-action pressure and vacuum relief in a single unit — outbreathing during overpressure, inbreathing during vacuum conditions
- Minimizes product evaporation loss and volatile emissions during normal thermal breathing cycles
- Suitable for Class A flammable products (flash point below 28°C) and Class B products (flash point below 60°C), including gasoline, kerosene, diesel, crude oil, aviation fuel, toluene, and ethanol
- All-weather design rated for operation from -29°C to +60°C (-20°F to +140°F)
- Lightweight construction for easy handling and reduced structural load on tank nozzle
- Flame arrester element is removable and cleanable for routine maintenance without valve replacement
- Compatible with hydraulic safety valves as part of a layered tank protection system
